analog laptop extension: timing by data, 2006/2007

Develop an analog extension of a laptop that considers its physical properties as well as computational power. In conjunction with the extension you can develop software that utilises the extended functionality it provides.

using a laptop as a timed switch for household applications

media-lies: smllr.com, 2006

create a believable media lie, a liminal technology that could almost be. envelope it to a medial representation, a website, news article, TV spot etc.

smllr.com is a flickr mashup/service that allows the user to tag photos with additional smell tags and provides the service of delivering scented hardcopies.

De-Tech: hamstArena, 2005/2006

Think critically about what digital design is all about, take the essence of the project and try to convey it in ›less technological means‹. What’s the fluff in the project, and what is the indispensable computation in it?

The Intermediate Diploma Project loopArena is a music interface with generative Elements. The most important fact is that every element is a software-agent with a programmed behaviour, which enables the agent to alter a melody created by the user on its own.

The main aspect is to interact with autonomous Creatures and to create music at the same time. Because it is impossible to create musical creatures without the use of software, existing creatures and their natural behaviours must be utilized. Perfect for that task are hamsters, because it is not exceptional playing with them.
Hamsters are no musical creatures, so the main aspects of their behaviour must be tranlated into musical information by the means of mechanics. Especially suitable are their will to run and their need for food and company.
