real cars transporting virtual viruses

Monday, October 29th, 2007

in the future, with every car equipped with GPS and internet access, a fun game, somehow reminiscent of the great movie “12 Monkeys” could be to create a “virus” from a virus construction kit, make your car the first host and then just drive. and later that day watch on a website, how far your baby has spread.

viruses are created by altering attributes like

  • resistence to speed
  • infectious radius
  • incubation time
  • ability to co-exist with other viruses
  • aggressive or slow infection

players can choose between accepting only passive viruses, which just exist on your car, or active viruses, that slow your car down, make it impossible to start, turn the heating or air conditioning on, etc… recommended only for people who have too much time and money.

Game Car: showoff at the traffic light

Monday, October 29th, 2007

as kids we used to play happy families, competing with cars on cards, comparing horsepower and acceleration time.

happy families

when we grow up, its not about collecting four cards, but lots of people still compare their cars, envying each other or being satisfied because they have the bigger, better car. the classic situation is, of course, two cars waiting for the traffic light to light green.

lets make this competition an act of communication again:

every car has its own strengths and flaws stored on a chip, the driver can challenge the next car with one of his strengths. you win, you get one point, you lose, well. you lose.

the winner gets to carry a “trophy” to the next traffic light.
